  • Top Ten Tuesday: Book-to-Movie Adaptations

    Posted at 3:15 am by Laura, on November 10, 2015

    Top Ten Tuesday, a concept started by The Broke and the Bookish, is a themed post that connects bloggers to bloggers, bloggers to readers, and readers to readers. Every Tuesday has a special topic, and this Tuesday is Top Ten Book-to-Movie Adaptations I’m Looking Forward to/Still Need to Watch.

    top10tuesday2015

    I cheated a bit and chose some book-to-TV selections as well, because why not.

    Looking Forward to Seeing

    Mockingjay Part 2 || The Danish Girl || Outlander Season 2: Dragonfly in Amber

    Sherlock Season 4 || Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

    Still Need to Watch

    Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug || Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

    Testament of Youth || Brooklyn

    And for #10: A Rewatch

    The Book Thief, because snow and books.

    In conclusion, I adore Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alicia Vikander. I see nothing wrong with this.

      The Desolation of Smaug is probably the best movie in the Hobbit trilogy. Great list.

      I’m so excited to see Mockingjay! I’ve loved the movie adaptations for the trilogy over the years, and this final installment is probably going to break me in the best way. I haven’t yet seen The Book Thief (I know!), but I definitely want to; I really loved that book as well. And the Hobbit films are GLORIOUS.

        GLORIOUS is an appropriate word! Hahaha.

        I’ve been very impressed with THG movies. They were definitely meant for the screen. And the way the actors are portraying PTSD? Spot on. I was always very happy with Mockingjay (even though it made me angry when reading — how could it not? It’s the mentality it puts you in!), and nervous to see it on screen. Part 1 impressed me, and Part 2 no doubt will as well.

      I definitely agree with Mockingjay and Season 2 of Outlander- I can’t wait for them! I was pleasantly surprised with The Book Thief’s adaptation because I wasn’t sure how they were going to pull that story off! But in my opinion they did it really well!

        Yes! The Book Thief’s narrator can’t exactly be a person in a movie, yet they play an important role. But I enjoyed how they created the film with Death, the decisions they made. Well done.
