I like how you separated it by classics and more contemporary books. I’ve never read Slaughterhouse Five either, but I definitely recommend the other classics on your list!

Fahrenheit 451 is definitely a must read. 50 Shades can go to hell 🙂

        HAHAHAHA!!!!
I fully plan to read Bradbury at some point. The book sounds right up my alley.

I’ve read a couple of the classics that you posted and loved To Kill a Mockingbird and Fahrenheit 451. The Catcher in the Rye on the other hand didn’t live up to expectations for me (I didn’t like it at all).

Your more contemporary picks (with the exception of Paper Towns) are also ones I haven’t read.

Yeah all of the classics except for To Kill a Mockingbird I was *supposed* to have read in high school, but we all know how that goes. I haven’t read Fifty Shades ( and never ever ever will!) or Girl on the Train, despite everyone in my family shoving it at me all summer 🙂 Great list!

To Kill a Mockingbird and Fahrenheit 451 are absolutely wonderful books. I would highly recommend reading both of those if you get the chance. Also, I’ve shouted about reading Simon Vs. a million times, so I’ll just say that I love that one and I hope you get to read it.

I had to read TKaM for high school and it was the second favorite required reading I ever had (second only to A Separate Peace). Fahrenheit 451 was a surprise because I’d read a short story by Bradbury and, while it was okay, it wasn’t something I really loved. I devoured 451 though. It’s one of my favorite classics. I tried reading Paper Towns and uuuuuggghhh. You know it’s bad when you’d rather just google the ending (which I totes did).

Slaughterhouse Five is one of my absolute favorite books of all time. It’s fast and merciless, but as a reader you don’t notice it at first. We read it in high school, and everybody complained (since it was a post-AP test assignment), but I found it so effective I’ll never forget the first time I finished it. “So it goes!”

Only book I’ve read from the more contemporary selections is Paper Towns, and I didn’t care for it too much…

1984 and Fahrenheit 451 belong to my favorite dystopian reads ever and I enjoyed reading To Kill a Mockingbird as well. I wasn’t a fan of The Catcher In The Rye though… Of the other titles I’ve only read Paper Towns and wasn’t impressed: the rest of the titles are still on my TBR. Except for Fifty Shades Of Grey; I don’t think I will ever read that one.

You really do not have to be sorry about not reading 50 Shades of Gray. Actually, you should be proud.
I really loved To Kill A Mockingbird! It did not read like most classics. I have not read any of the other classics on your list (I am still trying to catch up) but I am sure they are pretty great. They are classics for a reason.

I love To Kill a Mockingbird!! Definitely recommend it. The Heir is actually a fun read. I felt like it continues The Selection story in a clever and sweet way.

I’ve only read To Kill a Mockingbird and Paper Towns. I didn’t think Paper Towns was as good as The Fault in Our Stars, but it was definitely enjoyable.

For the other books, the only ones that I’m really interested in and will be reading at some point (hopefully within a timely manner, but you know how that goes!) are the rest of those classics and The Selection series. The Girl on the Train looks interesting, but it’s not something that’s really captured my attention, so I guess I’ll have to see about that one!

So many books, so little time!

Until yesterday my answer was YES, but the internet has spoiled me for a massive plot line, and now I’m kind of gutted. But I likely will still read it, and if I hate it I’ll just pretend it never happened. I can do that *cough* Sex and The City 2 *cough* I want to buy a paperback to match my copy of Mockingbird though. I hate the cover for Watchman. R x

It is a very old-fashioned cover. I wonder if it matches the original cover of Mockingbird? Do you know?
One day the paperback will be out. One day…

I was in a book store on release day, and oh my word there were some delicious covers for Mockingbird! I have the cream 50th anniversary paperback, which is quite nice, a silhouette of a girl on a tyre swing? (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51rrtmQtqkL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg) But I saw this one and fell in love (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/610AIDHrnyL._SX341_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg). Then if you want to go expensive, there’s the folio edition – http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wJhb_t9HrZc/UfjyjyhRWSI/AAAAAAAAR7U/6HRD7iA54eg/s1600/photo+(11).jpg The original cover was this one I think https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/79/To_Kill_a_Mockingbird.JPG so I don’t know why the new one is so… gross lol R x

My poor heart…To Kill A Mockingbird, The Catcher In the Rye, and 1984!?! All three are some of my favourite classics :). I hope you’ll be able to read and enjoy them someday!

I’ve read 50 Shades of Grey, actually I read all three books (You aren’t missing anything). Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is one I hope to read soon! Personally, The Selection just isn’t my kind of read.

I know, I know! *hides face*

The Selection isn’t really for me, either, but I’ve also heard nothing but good things. It’s the dystopian + The Bachelor feel, I’m just so wary of it!
