  • Top Ten Tuesday: All Time Favorite Books

Posted at 8:15 am by Laura, on March 3, 2015

Top Ten Tuesday, a concept started by The Broke and the Bookish, is a themed post that connects bloggers to bloggers, bloggers to readers, and readers to readers. Every Tuesday has a special topic, and this Tuesday is Top Ten ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS from the Last Three Years.

    top10tuesday2015

Oy. At first I thought this would be easy — just a quick scan of my top five favorites from each year — but now that I think about this more, some of the books listed below didn’t even make my Top Five of 20__ list originally. They stick out to me now, though, in one way or another.

The Night Circus || Outlander || The Last Enchantments
Shadow on the Crown || The Secret Keeper

Mostly historical fiction, two of them fantasy-based, and all three set in England and/or Europe. Sounds about right for my tastes! Four of these authors were new to me at the time I read them and/or they were debuts, so it’s always exciting to find new people to follow.

    17668473

Fangirl || All the Bright Places || Anna and the French Kiss
Between Shades of Gray || Prisoner of Night and Fog

Three YA books are contemporary, speaking to who I am as a person (anxious and nerdy, deeply interested in psychology, giggly and a hopeless romantic), and two are WWII historical fiction but with a different perspective (lesser-known Russian history and through the eyes of a young pre-Nazi). Phenomenal books in their own right, and I’m constantly putting them in readers’ hands.

What are your top ten favorite books from the last three years? Do we have any overlap?

I love this list, Laura! It just reinforces once more how much of the same person we are, haha.

Everything on here I either want to read, or have read – of particular interest is The Prisoner of Night & Fog (which you turned me on to in the first place!)

I read NIGHT AND FOG a year ago exactly, and am still blown away by it. Really looking forward to the sequel.

The Night Circus is on my list too this week. I can’t wait to start Outlander since I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it. Nice choices!

Outlander, Between Shades of Grey and Prisoner of Night and Fog are all on my TBR. I like seeing my TBR books on people’s lists today because it means they should be good! Need to bump them up the list!

Oh oh oh how I love The Night Circus so so much! I want her to write another book beyond badly. I’m really curious about Patricia Bracewell’s books so hopefully I can get around to one soon! And of course, our Outlander love is the best 🙂 ❤

Love Anna but I still have to read everything else on your list :S I'm definitely hoping to read All The Bright Places soon!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and awesome list Laura!

It looks like you enjoy historical fiction — Patricia Bracewell is a force to be reckoned with! You’ll enjoy her. Like Outlander, it’ll take some time to finish but it’s completely worth it.

ATBP will make you cry. In case you weren’t already warned of that.

So happy to see Prisoner of Night and Fog and Fangirl up there! Those are two of my personal favorites as well. 🙂 I adore Anna, and I’ve been meaning to read The Night Circus.

      Great list, lady!

I’ve heard wonderful things about the beautiful prose of The Night Circus, and it seems like something I might want to read. I also loved reading Prisoner of Night and Fog. It was told from such a unique perspective and I loved how intricate the details about the storyworld were. I must read Between Shades of Gray!

You will LOVE Night Circus (dive in! Be brave! I was hesitant at first because so many people recommended it — I read it, and now I understand why), and if you liked Prisoner you’ll definitely enjoy Between Shades of Gray. Another fantastic WWII different POV story.
