Top Ten Tuesday, a concept started by The Broke and the Bookish, is a themed post that connects bloggers to bloggers, bloggers to readers, and readers to readers. Every Tuesday has a special topic, and this Tuesday is Top Ten Books on My Fall TBR List.
The question is…will they all be read? So many books! Here are ten that, at this moment, I want to read this fall.
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch (October 14), because Balzer + Bray rocks and I’ve fallen into the hype over this book!
Ravencliffe by Carol Goodman (December 2), the sequel to Blythewood, which I loved. Anyone who enjoyed Libba Bray’s A Great and Terrible Beauty would like this too.
Stray by Elissa Sussman (October 7), a fairytale-esque story that promises to be absolutely amazing. I won it from Greenwillow in a Goodreads giveaway!
Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, the book I’ve been told is completely worth the drag of the second book (almost done with Dragonfly in Amber).
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, which technically I’m reading right now. Enjoying it so far!
Winterkill by Kate Boorman caught my eye, and when I read a review that said, “The Village and Oregon Trail created a love child,” I grabbed it.
Frostfire by Amanda Hocking (January 6), a huge case of cover love. I’m not even sure what I’m getting into!
Jackaby by William Ritter, a genre-bending YA that’s like Doctor Who and Sherlock. ALL THE YESES.
The Swallow by Charis Cotter, a middle grade ghost story that I’m really excited to start! It grabbed my attention immediately.
Dream Boy by Mary Crockett & Madelyn Rosenberg sounds so intriguing and frightening. Dreams coming true — all the good ones and bad ones? Done.
What books are on your fall TBR list? Do we have any overlap?

I have Blythewood out from the library right now. I was going to take it back without reading it, but if it’s like A Great and Terrible Beauty, I’ll have to give it a shot. Love your list!
Laura
Yes, give it a chance! I actually enjoyed it more than A Great and Terrible Beauty, too. Awesome atmosphere.

Ugh. I want to read like, half of these. Maybe for wintertime lol
Laura
Haha, they are a perfect set of winter books, aren’t they? Seem to be moving a season ahead…

I agree, “Dragonfly in Amber” dragged but “Voyager” and “Drums of Autumn” totally made up for it!

I so agree, book two of the Outlander series was my least favorite of the bunch, but don’t worry it gets better!! Hope you enjoy all your picks, happy reading! 🙂
Laura
Thanks! We’re back in Lallybroch now, thank goodness. The end is nigh…

I love your list, very eclectic! Agree with Cate in the above comment, Voyager and Drums of Autumn might be my favorites of the series. They more than make up for Dragonfly!! Which reminds me, I still need to read the 8th book… I’ve been putting it off to make a dent in the rest of my TBR!
Very excited for Snow Like Ashes and Stray as well, I love fantasy and fairy tales! Ravencliffe has a beautiful cover, makes me want to pick up Blythewood.
I really like the look of The Swallow, the cover is charmingly spooky and I love ghost stories!
The coverlove is definitely strong with Frostfire haha. I think it’s about trolls in some way? Sounded intriguing. Have you read Stolen Songbird by Danielle Jensen? Super fantastic debut fantasy this year centered around some really cool troll mythology. One of my favorites of the year! And ohhhh the cover ❤
My immediate fall TBR is Unmade by Sarah Rees Brennan (3rd in the Lynburn Legacy), Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater, Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella (reasons here: http://gonewiththewords.com/2014/09/top-ten-tuesday-books-fall-to-be-read-lists.html), Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth, and some of the many books I purchased this summer! Particularly The Glass Sentence, Kiss of Deception, Hook's Revenge, Isla and the Happily Ever After, etc. I might be slightly ambitious haha 🙂
Laura
I don’t blame you for putting off the 8th book! This series sucks you in and keeps you from reading other books. Which is both good and bad 😉
I haven’t read Stolen Songbird but it’s on my TBR list on Goodreads! A favorite? What did you like most about it? (Isn’t that also a troll book?)
MAGGIE STIEFVATER. Is that her third book in the Raven Cycle series?! I haven’t read the second yet :O

Exactly! I want to dedicate at least a whole weekend to it.
Yes Stolen Songbird is a troll book, which put me off at first, but I’m really glad I gave it a chance! It sucks you in immediately. My favorite thing about it was the characters, especially Cecile and Tristan. Great dialogue. The romance and the friendships were wonderful and even though the evil characters were less three dimensional I’m desperate to know what they’re up to. I also thought the dual POV was very well done. And even though it’s a long book, it’s fast paced with really interesting storytelling. I liked reading about a different sort of creature for once! If you like fantasy, it’s fab.
YEP third Raven Cycle book! Omggggg read The Dream Thieves STAT. I liked Raven Boys but Dream Thieves was incredible. It blew me away.
OKAY!!! I won’t make Isla wait much longer 🙂
Laura
Thanks for the recommendation 🙂 YA fantasy needs more diverse creatures. Enough with vampires and werewolves and angels and demons. Lets get to trolls and gargoyles 😉
You’ve basically convinced me to read Dream Thieves. Now to go to the bookstore!
Rachel
A couple of these are on my wishlist, but not my immediate TBR, which thanks to this week’s TTT I’ve realised will take me a looong time to read!!

I’m really looking forward to reading The Swallow and Jackaby, too. Just have to wait for my library to get copies in…don’t you hate waiting for books?
Laura
YES! It’s so sad, because I don’t want to be that person who’s impatient about immediacy, and yet…these are stories I want to read NOW. Haha.
Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know
YES to Code Name Verity. I hope you love that one. It was so different from what I normally read, but it was so good too! Great list!
